Two fantastic late 19th century lithographed prints w/ full original color. Both published in Leipzig by Bibliographisches Institut; engraved by Meyers Konv.-Lexikon, circa 1895. Beautifully colored w/ a chromo technique that is almost glossy and difficult to pick up w/ a digital camera w/o glare.
The first, "Tropenwald" depicts a dense forested area replete w/ flowering plants, ferns and trees. There are twenty-eight plants featured w/ Latin names: Ficus grandaeva, Ficus spec., Cecropia peltata, Monstera deliciosa, Philodendron, Wendlandii, Anthurium reflexum, A. Scherzerianum Xanthosoma vioaceum, Passiflora racemosa, Carica Papaya, Chamaedorea oblongata, Phytelephas macrocarpa, Mauritia flexuosa, Euterpe oleracea, Epidendrum vitellium, Phalaenopsis Aphrodite, Oncidium ampliatum, O.Harrisonianum, Cattleya Mendellia, Dendrobium densiflorum, Begonia rex, Alsophia spec., Nephrodium spec., Bauhinia spec., Cordyline and Tillandsia usneoides. Signed by the artist within the block, "HEichhorn".
