This listing is for a hardcover book, entitled Tropical Flowers. The book was written by Dr. Hans Hannau and Jeanne Garrard. The book was published by Doubleday in NY, but I can’t find a publishing or copywrite date anywhere in this book. The front of the book says it has 48 pages of color photographs. The photographs are beautiful, and of very high quality, with vivid colors. The subject matter of the book is Tropical Flowers. The book has a section on where tropical flowers originated, and then discussed tropical flowers by region. It then has a section on families of tropical flowers, and then has a section on favorite tropical flowers, which covers orchids, bromeliads, cacti and succulents, anthuriums, and ginger. The last sections are botanical gardens, and tropical flowers in home and garden. This is a charming and unique book, with lots of information, and wonderful photos. The book has good descriptions of the particular plants that are depicted in the photos. I especially liked the photo of the banana blossom. I have never seen a photo of that before. The book has 119 pages, so this is not a real thin book. The book itself is in very good condition; however there is wear to the book cover. There is some light scratching and pressure marks on the book cover, front and back. There is some minor wear to the corners of the book. I notice in the photo, the area to the lower right hand side of the book looks very worn. This is not accurate. The white areas are part of the photo, and there are no large obvious scratch marks on the book, as appears to be from the photo. For some reason, thats just the way the book photographed with the light on it. The book doesn't look like it was read or even opened much. Please check my listings for some unusually nice craft books. |
