This original, beautiful hand coloured engraving is in good condition with minimal ageing present and strong plate marks-please see supersize image below. Printed on one side only on heavy grade paper, the page measures 8ins x 6ins approx.(21cm x 16cms approx.) with the publisher's imprint etc. The accompanying descriptive text will also be supplied. It is becoming increasingly harder to find these Loddiges botanical engravings and the value of each of these prints is increasing from year to year, making it a rare addition to your collection and ideal for framing. The Botanical Cabinet was issued in answer to public demands for information about the flood of new plants into English gardens and nurseries at the beginning of the nineteenth century. Most of the plants were cultivated in the renowned Loddiges nursery at Hackney. The exquisite hand coloured, engravings are by George Cooke from drawings by George Loddiges, William Loddiges and others .
