Information: This originally hand-colored botanical engraving is from the work Herbier general de l'amateur, deuxieme serie. The work was published by Audot in Paris between 1839 and 1844. The engravings were done by the N. Remond, a well sought after engraver, who worked for Berlese & Redoute. The work was originally begun by Jean Claude Morduant de Launay. Loiseleur-Deslongchamps continued the work and provided the text which described notes on the history, use, and properties of the plants. Charles Antoine Lemaire also contibuted to the editing to the work. Many noted artists contributed to the work including Pancrace Bessa, Riocreux, Deville, de Comolera, Green, Duménil, Maubert, and Vaillant. The paper quality in this publication is far superior to earlier editions.
